About Us

The History of Minnesota Graduate School of Theology and Christ’s Kingdom Mission College

In the early 1980’s, MGST began as a dream in the heart of Dr. William Campbell.

After many years of serving as a pastor and a chaplain in the inner city, he recognized the need for solid Biblical training for inner city pastors, offered in their own settings.  He examined an educational approach gaining traction and gave potential college students credit for life experience in the field they wanted to study.  He began to apply those same principles to the field of Theology, and Bibliocentric Christian Clinical Counseling.  In partnership with his close friends, Dr. David Sigvertsen, co-founder of MGST, and Dr. Vic Vickerman, the dream was born in 1986. MGST was established with full approval from the State of Minnesota and was accredited soon afterward.

Dr. Esther Sigvertsen

MGST began to grow, and interest in the school began to come from sites overseas.  In October of 1991, Dr. Campbell flew to South Korea, and began work on opening an extension school there.  Unfortunately, he did not live to see it opened, as he passed away suddenly in 1992.  After his death, the school continued under the leadership of Dr. David Sigvertsen.

In 2013, Dr. David Sigvertsen passed and the school’s leadership was succeeded by his wife, Dr. Esther Sigvertsen, who currently serves as President.

MGST has since expanded to 100 extension and affiliate schools around the world.

After Dr. Campbell’s death, his widow, Peggy Campbell, remarried to Joseph Rayman.  They both studied and earned doctorates at MGST, and later opened an affiliate school called Coastal Georgia School of Missions.  After Dr. Joseph Rayman died in 2014, Dr. Peggy felt led to move to Kenya.  At a meeting with her Kenyan co-laborers in 2017, it was determined that there was a need for a Theological college in Kenya that could teach practical ministry skills by returning to the first-century way of being the Church.  Soon after, Dr. Rayman began the process of developing CKMC as an affiliate school. This is accomplished by training multiplying disciples that form missional communities and then sending those multiplying disciples to complete the Great Commission in the ends of the earth.

Christ's Kingdom Mission College

In February of that year 2017, the charter was moved from Georgia, US, to East Africa and began operating under the name of Christ’s Kingdom Mission College.  As students are trained, CKMC has the vision to start other satellite, extension, and affiliate schools in multiple areas throughout East Africa and beyond until the task that Jesus left us is completed.  Under MGST, CKMC can grant degrees in the field of Missional Church Leadership.
